Learn to Ride & Early Pedallers Summer Workshops 2026

Learn to Ride This Summer at Ranby House School

There's no better feeling than watching a child ride a bike independently for the very first time.

Our Learn to Ride & Early Pedallers Summer Workshops are back for 2026, providing young riders with the perfect opportunity to develop the confidence, balance and skills needed to ride independently.

Taking place at Ranby House School, these fun and supportive 2.5-hour workshops are designed specifically for children who are learning to ride, building confidence on pedals, or taking their first steps towards riding unaided.

With experienced coaches, proven teaching methods and plenty of encouragement, these sessions provide an ideal fast-track to independent cycling.

Whether your child is currently using a balance bike, has recently started pedalling, or is still relying on stabilisers, our coaches will help them progress at a pace that suits them.

Why Learn to Ride?

Learning to ride a bike is one of the most important milestones in a child's development.

Cycling helps children develop:

• Balance and coordination

• Confidence and independence

• Physical fitness

• Spatial awareness

• Resilience and perseverance

• A lifelong love of being active outdoors

Our workshops are designed to make learning fun, positive and rewarding whilst creating an environment where children feel comfortable trying new skills.

Learn to Ride & Early Pedalers Workshops

Our 2.5-hour workshops combine expert coaching, games and structured activities to help children develop confidence and progress quickly.

Many children make significant progress during a single session, with others achieving their goal of riding independently for the very first time.

The longer workshop format allows coaches plenty of time to work with each child individually, helping them develop the key skills required to ride confidently without assistance.

Skills Covered

• Balance and stability

• Starting and stopping safely

• Steering control

• Braking techniques

• Cornering

• Pedalling efficiency

• Confidence building

• Riding independently

Our experienced coaches adapt each session to suit the needs of the individual rider, ensuring every child receives the support and encouragement they need.

Who Are These Sessions For?

Learn to Ride

Perfect for children who:

• Are currently using stabilisers

• Have little or no cycling experience

• Need support developing balance and confidence

• Want to learn to ride independently

• Have recently started riding without stabilisers

• Can pedal independently but lack confidence

• Need help with steering, braking and control

• Want to improve their bike handling skills

The combination of Learn to Ride and Early Pedalers coaching allows children to progress naturally through the early stages of their cycling journey.

Why Choose a Workshop Format?

Our 2.5-hour workshop format gives children far more opportunity to develop than a traditional short lesson.

The extended session allows coaches to:

• Build confidence gradually

• Reinforce new skills through games and activities

• Provide individual feedback

• Create plenty of riding opportunities

• Support riders as they progress towards independent cycling

For many children, these workshops provide the perfect fast-track towards riding unaided.

What To Bring

Please ensure your child brings:

• A suitable bike in good working order

• Helmet

• Water bottle

• Suitable clothing for the weather conditions

• Waterproof jacket if required

If your child currently rides with stabilisers, please get in touch before the session and we can advise on the best setup for learning.
